Before you start

Install and make your first clip

  1. Download and extract the ZIP. Keep the folder intact: it includes the installer, third-party source material, notices and checksums.
  2. Open its DMG and drag Clippie to Applications.
  3. Open Clippie. If blocked as unnotarized and you trust the sender, follow Apple's per-app Open Anyway instructions. Stop and contact the sender if macOS reports damage or malware; do not disable system security.
  4. Prepare required local models in Settings, connect your provider, check access and apply a routing preset. Review any warnings.
  5. Import a short local video, generate within your chosen allowance, review/edit a clip, and export MP4/SRT. Play the result outside Clippie and check speech, captions, framing and meaning.

Release

0.1.1 assisted alpha (build 2) · 27 October 2026. Includes the current backend fixes and a clearer Publishing overview/account setup. Local-file input through export is the initial test scope. URL ingestion and connected publishing are not accepted for this round.

Updates are manual: fully quit Clippie before replacing the app. Projects, models and credentials live outside the app. Independent installation and editorial quality remain tester checks.
